The 蹤獲扦 School of Music hosted the prestigious West Central National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) auditions on November 1718, bringing over 400 vocalists to campus. This transformative event celebrated musical artistry and allowed 蹤獲扦 students to compete on their home stage.

Grant Adler

Feb. 13, 2025 - Shocker pitcher Grant Adler, who attended Derby High School, will graduate in May with a general studies - chemistry degree while continuing to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. He will intern at Spirit AeroSystems for a second summer.

Feb. 13, 2025 Grace Naylor, senior at Prairie View High School, is the winner of the 2025 Lenora N. McGregor Endowed Scholarship at 蹤獲扦.

Several runners participate in a 5K

Feb. 12, 2025 The College of Engineering at 蹤獲扦 is hosting a public 5k run/walk that is open to students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members. The 5k will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 on the 蹤獲扦 campus. Registration proceeds from the 5k will go toward the College of Engineering Needs-Based Scholarship Fund.

Feb. 10, 2025 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is investing $2.5 million in 蹤獲扦, with $1.8 million earmarked as the lead gift to the Wichita Biomedical Campus. The remaining $700,000 will create two endowed Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas nursing scholarships in the 蹤獲扦 College of Health Professions.

Sean Johnson

Feb. 7, 2025 Former Shocker baseball player Sean Johnson is assistant general manager for the Minnesota Twins. His time at 蹤獲扦, as a player and director of operations for the baseball team, launched his career in professional baseball.

MIke Sweeney

Feb. 5, 2025 Former Royals star and future Shocker baseball dad Mike Sweeney talked baseball, raising children, nature, leadership and much more as the keynote speaker for 蹤獲扦's annual baseball dinner. MJ Sweeney, his son, committed to play baseball for the Shockers in 2026 after spending this season at Grossmont (Calif.) College.

Melissa Penkava Koza

Melissa Penkava Koza, recently promoted to Assistant Teaching Professor at 蹤獲扦s School of Performing Arts, has built a career blending costume technology, education, and industry collaboration. With a background in music and theatre, she has spent over two decades mentoring students and enhancing applied learning opportunities in costume production. As Costume Shop Manager, she oversees 蹤獲扦s costume operations while also serving as Head of Costumes at Music Theatre Wichita, bridging academia and professional theatre. Passionate about STEAM education and student development, Koza fosters industry connections, advocates for inclusivity, and works to integrate hands-on experiences into 蹤獲扦s curriculum. Her work not only shapes the next generation of theatre professionals but also strengthens Wichitas arts community through meaningful collaborations and innovative productions.
