Purpose: 鈥淧roposals must be for fundamental research in 鈥渢he petroleum field,鈥� which is defined in our founding document as 鈥減etroleum, natural gas, coal, shale, tar sands and like materials.鈥� Fundamental research encompasses the properties of these materials, whereas the petroleum industry undertakes 鈥渁pplied research,鈥� which is outside the scope of ACS PRF. Join Fran Cook, CRA, Trainer from the 萝莉社 Office of Research, who will host a virtual workshop demonstrating tips and tricks for using Pivot to search for funding opportunities. We will also discuss how to find potential funding opportunities that might not be listed in Pivot.

Quantum Partnership Workshop at Sanford Lab Research Facility: July 21 - 23, 2025
The Quantum Partnership Workshop is a collaborative gathering at the Sanford Lab Research Facility, in Lead, SD. The workshop is hosted by the Great Plains Network (GPN) and The Institute for Underground Science at SURF, in partnership with the South Dakota Quantum Center initiative. This event is designed to foster synergies and forge new connections within the quantum research community. In addition to highlighting quantum research activities throughout the South Dakota and GPN region, this year鈥檚 program will have a unique focus on quantum networking with an intended outcome of expanding the quantum footprint throughout the Midwest.

REMINDER: Learn to Use BeoShock for your Advanced Research Computing Needs
萝莉社continues to host Beoshock, a High-Performance Computing Cluster (HPC). This HPC is available and free to faculty members, researchers and students engaged in course work or research activities. BeoShock runs the CentOS Linux operating system and features approximately 720 processor cores, two high memory compute nodes with 1.5 terabytes of memory, and four graphics processing unit (GPU) accelerators. BeoShock also has a variety of software tools that may be helpful in your research endeavors, such as Matlab,Mathematica, R, Python and many more.

National Science Foundation Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Programs (MFTRP) Annual Certification Requirement
鈥淪tarting on June 7, 2025, in accordance with the , all PIs or co-PIs named on an NSF award made on or after May 20, 2024, must certify annually in Research.gov that they are not party to a MFTRP. Individuals who are currently a party to a MFTRP are not eligible to serve as senior/key personnel on an NSF proposal or on any NSF award made on or after May 20, 2024. NSF is providing notification of this new requirement to impacted PIs and co-PIs. What you need to know about completing the required MFTRP certification in Research.gov: 1) There is no organizational certification requirement, the certification requirement is for PIs and co-PIs; 2) Impacted PIs and co-PIs will be prompted to complete the MFTRP certification after signing into Research.gov using the Sign In link at the top of ; 3) PIs and co-PIs with more than one active award made on or after May 20, 2024, are only required to certify once, annually; and 4) Once completed, PIs and co-PIs can view their MFTRP certification response under the Academic/Professional Information section of their profile.鈥�

REMINDER: ORCID ID 鈥� Persistent Digital Identifiers for Researchers
ORCID is an international, interdisciplinary, open, non-proprietary, and not-for-profit organization created by the research community for the benefit of all stakeholders, providing a persistent digital identifier (an ORCID iD) that distinguishes researchers with record that supportsautomatic links among all professional activities. A researcher鈥檚 ORCID iD and connections are stored in the ORCID Registry, in an account owned and managed by individual researchers. The 萝莉社 Office of Research recommends that Researchers set up their ORCID if they have not already, as some federal funders may require the use of an ORCID as part of a researcher鈥檚 biographical sketch or CV.

Wichita Public Schools (USD 259) requests a minimum of 30 business days to process letters of support or participation in research. It is 萝莉社鈥檚 responsibility to have appropriate support from the school(s)/personnel that will be involved in the project prior to submitting a request. Letters of Support/Grant Proposals: 萝莉社 personnel who need a letter of support or USD259 participation on a grant proposal, should complete the form and are encouraged to reach out directly to Holly Wilson at hwilson@usd259.net early in the process for questions/clarification. Research Requests: 萝莉社 personnel who want to conduct research in USD 259, must download and complete the .
